MIOsoft Scores Highest in 4 of 6 Use Cases, Second-Highest in Other 2 in Gartner Critical Capabilities for Data Quality Tools 2016 for Second Consecutive Year

Madison, Wis. (21 December 2016)--MIOsoft was the only company to receive a highest or second-highest score in every use case of Gartner’s Critical Capabilities for Data Quality Tools for the second consecutive year, MIOsoft announced today. MIOsoft’s most recent scores come in the recently-released 2016 version of the report.*

MIOsoft received the highest score in 4 of 6 use cases and the second-highest score in the other 2 use cases in the 2016 Critical Capabilities for Data Quality Tools.*

MIOsoft’s scores in the Gartner Critical Capabilities for Data Quality Tools are based on its MIOvantage data quality software.

MIOsoft received the highest score in the following use cases:

  • Big Data & Analytics
  • Data Migration
  • Master Data Management
  • Information Governance

This is the third time in a row that MIOsoft has received the highest scores for Data Migration and Information Governance.

MIOsoft received the second-highest score in the following use cases:

  • Data Integration
  • Operational/Transactional Data Quality

“We’ve had a year of strong growth in 2016,” said Jordan Barrette, MIOsoft’s chief operating officer. “We’ve been working behind the scenes at some of the most successful organizations in the world for years, and we’ve increased that presence this year, adding to our history of customer success.

“We’re excited to continue building on that history in 2017 by helping new customers take the vital step of ensuring high-quality data for their decision-making, both through direct customer relationships and by actively growing our partner relationships.”

Data quality has significant business implications, according to Barrette. When a company has low-quality data—when its data is inaccurate, inconsistent, and/or inaccessible—the company is unable to effectively understand its customers, its market, and even itself.

The low-quality data can have a ripple effect throughout the entire organization: often, data-driven projects are meant to inform strategic decisions about the company’s direction.

Data-driven projects cannot produce reliable results if they are forced to use unreliable data. With low data quality, companies are underinformed or, in the worst case, misinformed as they make critical decisions.

“So often, people assume that a company’s grasp of its data is much stronger and more sophisticated than it really is,” said Barrette. “Consumers expect great service, thoughtful products and services. Shareholders expect precision steering of an enormous corporate ship. But that’s just not what the company can, technologically, achieve. And the company ends up paying for it in the form of dissatisfied stakeholders.”

Data quality software like MIOvantage allows companies to evaluate the state of their data and to effect repairs. The resulting high-quality data can, in MIOvantage, either be used for analytics directly or be pushed to other systems for analytics and operational use.

“We help companies make that leap from having fragmented, limited knowledge of themselves to having some of the most advanced analytics available with very high-quality data,” said Barrette. “It’s not a simple leap to make, and there’s a lot on the line. That’s where our long-term experience working on these problems and continuously honing MIOvantage to solve them really helps.”

One reason for MIOsoft’s success to date, according to Barrette, is MIOsoft’s close relationships with its customers even after MIOvantage is deployed.

“We simply measure our success by our customers’ success,” said Barrette. “Our customers drive everything we do, including the development of MIOvantage. Every customer’s project has the potential to reveal new insight into how MIOvantage could be better or we could be more effective.

“We see our scores in the Gartner Critical Capabilities for Data Quality Tools as confirmation that our customer-directed approach is the right one.”
